Dr. Casey Jakubowski, Associate Director at the Archer Center for Student Leadership at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is a familiar and highly respected lecturer and person at RPI. To the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon New York Delta, he is also our faculty fellow.
Dr. Jakubowski came to RPI in 2015 after many years of working with the New York State Education Department and took his current position in the Archer Center. It was while working at the Archer Center that he was offered the opportunity to work with the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Since the spring semester of 2018, he has worked tirelessly with our fraternity and other Greek organizations.
Through Sigma Phi Epsilon he has held multiple presentations and seminars. One that especially hit home was a presentation about moving to new places and adjusting to living in new places. Many of the brothers were going on first time job opportunities such as internships and co-ops and were moving to new locations. This presentation offered them tools to make the best of their experience, such as advice as how to network with coworkers and how to make the most out of local opportunities.
Another key presentation took place just before RPI’s spring Career fair and included the sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta. This presentation gave structured advice on how to present yourself clearly and confidently, how to build a better resume, and how to secure the interview by making yourself stand out to the recruiter.
Recently, Dr. Jakubowski received the high honor University Partner of the Year award from the Sigma Phi Epsilon national organization. This prestigious award recognizes faculty and staff who create a particularly meaningful partnership with Sigma Phi Epsilon on their campus. The recipients of this award act as members and advisors, and constantly work to support the implementation of life-changing experiences through the Balanced Man Program.
Dr. Jakubowski is an incredible caring professor who strives to bring the best out of every person he works with or interacts with day to day. He always throws himself into developing himself and his students. He recently published a book, titled Thinking about Teaching, a book reflecting on his time teaching and his experience with the rural education system of New York State. We are incredible thankful to have Dr. Jakubowski working with us and being our Faculty Fellow!
